Commissioner's All Academic Team 2008 - 2009

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is proud to announce the Commissioner's All Academic Team. The list comprises student athletes from every member institution and in every sport that have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Highlighting the list is over 360 student athletes. Benedict College, Claflin University and Tuskegee University were the top three institutions with the most student athletes on the lists. Benedict had 57 student athletes with a combined GPA 3.45, highest amongst all institutions. Claflin had 43 student athletes with a combined GPA of 3.40 and Tuskegee had 52 student athletes with a combined GPA of 3.37.
Tennis was the sport with the highest combined GPA with a 3.50. Track & Field had the most student athletes on the list with 110 students above a 3.0.
The Commissioner's All Academic Team was started at the conclusion of 2006-07 academic years to recognize all student athletes in the conference who acquired or maintained a 3.0 GPA during their collegiate years. Because not every student can make the All Academic team for their particular sport during the regular season but acquiring a 3.0 GPA at the collegiate level especially as a student athlete is a major accomplishment and should be recognized.
