SIAC announces 3rd Annual Connor Elite 12 Scholar/Athlete Award Winners

Tucker, GA The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Connor Sports Flooring are proud to announce the winners of the 3rd Annual Connor Elite 12 Scholar/Athlete Awards. Eric Palmer of Tuskegee University and Anna-Lee Clarke of Benedict College were the overall awardees of this distinguished award, receiving $2,000 each for their scholastic achievements throughout their collegiate career. Fifteen (15) recipients of this award received a $100.00 scholarship for their scholastic and athletic achievements.
Anna-Lee Clarke, a Junior at Benedict College, was this year's recipient for the women, marking the second straight year a woman from Benedict College received this award. Clarke is a standout Tennis player with a 3.97 Cumulative GPA. She is a member of the Benedict College President's List, Benedict College Dean's List, Benedict College School of Honors Association, Recipient of the Benedict College President's Trophy, a Trustee Club Scholar, and a member of the National Dean's List. Some of Anna-Lee's athletic success include being named to the 2006 International Tennis Association All-Academic Team, 2006 and 2007 SIAC All Academic Tennis Team, 2007 SIAC 2nd Team All Conference Singles Team and SIAC 1st Team All Conference Doubles Team. Anna-Lee displays Leadership, Discipline and Attitude through her scholastic achievement, athletic achievements and her commitment to social change with her involvement in numerous on campus groups. Some of those groups include being a member of the Benedict College Pre-Health Club, the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS), Student National Medical Association (SNMA), International Student Association (ISA), Beta Kappa Chi National Honor Scientific Association, School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Tutorial Program, and a Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Academic Quiz Bowl Team Member.
Eric Palmer is a Junior Tennis and Football Athlete at Tuskegee University with a 3.8 Cumulative GPA. Some of Palmer's academic achievements include being a member of Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society. Palmer has excelled athletically by leading his team to three consecutive SIAC Tennis Championships, being named to three SIAC All Conference Tennis Singles and Doubles Teams and was also named the SIAC Tennis Player of the Year. While juggling his schedule between Football, Tennis and his dedication to his studies in Engineering, Eric is also a member of INROADS, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc.
The Connor Elite 12 Scholar/Athlete Awards Program is in its 3rd year of existence for the SIAC and its objective is to recognize an outstanding male and female student-athlete from each SIAC member institution. To be considered for this award a student athlete must have at least a 3.3 GPA, exhibit academic and athletic success while depicting the characteristics of Leadership, Discipline, and Attitude. Fifteen (15) individuals from SIAC Institutions were chosen this year for this award and received a plaque and an $100.00 scholarship towards their tuition during the 2007 Spring Sports Championship's Banquet including:
