Tucker, GA The NCAA Division II Men's & Women's Committee announced on Sunday night the field of 64 that will play in the 2007 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament. Amongst the field Albany State Men's team and Benedict College Men's & Women's teams all received bids for the NCAA Division II Basketball Playoffs.
Twenty-two conferences were awarded automatic qualification for winning their conference tournaments. The remaining 42 teams were selected at large by the committee. Amongst the automatic qualifiers Albany State for the Men and Benedict College women were chosen. Benedict College Men's team received an at large bid due to their outstanding regular season where they finished the season third in the South Region.
For the men Albany State University received the #8 seed and they will play the top seeded University of Montevallo of the Gulf South Conference who is also hosting the regional section of the tournament. Benedict College received the #3 seed and will play the #6 seed Eckerd College from the Sunshine State Conference. Albany State will play at 6:00 PM and Benedict will play at 12:00 pm CST.
Benedict College women's team received the #8 seed in the south region and will play the #1 seed Florida Gulf Coast University. The women's South Region will be played in Fort Meyers, FL on the campus on Florida Gulf Coast University. The game is scheduled for 7:00 pm EST.
