Benedict College Men's Basketball Ranked #1 in NCAA Division II South Region

[Columbia, SC] Head Coach Fred Watson and his 2007 Benedict College Tiger basketball team have been recognized as the # 1 team in the NCAA Division II Men's South Region Basketball rankings. The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball South Region Committee voted the team the best in its region for games played through Sunday January 21, 2007.
The Tigers topped their ranking from last year by 4 slots. The NCAA Committee ranked the Tigers in the 5th slot midway through the 2005-2006 seasons. Thus far the Tiger's have recorded a 14-1 record with 12 regular season games including seven conference games still to play. They have also extended their winning streak to 13 games, while rapidly approaching their streak set last year of 16 back-to-back wins. In the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference the Tigers are 11-0 and standing strong in 1st place. The Tigers will tip-off against conference foe LeMoyne-Owen College at home Saturday January 27, 2007 in the Benjamin E. Mays Human Resource Center at 8:00 p.m.
