Temporary Housing Announcement

August 16, 2007

Benedict College has experienced a dramatic increase of freshmen and new students who have enrolled in our 2007 fall class.  While this is great news for our 137- year- old institution that strives to educate as many inquiring minds as possible to become "a power for good in society", we needed to make temporary housing provisions for students.

We are in the process of bringing dormitory rooms that were formerly off-line back on-line for student housing accommodations but in the interim we are utilizing the services of a few local and quality hotels.  We want to inform you how we are managing this temporary process and ensure you that the lines of communications are open.

Security:
The Benedict College Campus Police in conjunction with the City of Columbia and Lexington County Police Departments are working together to ensure 24-hour security.

Supervision:
Each hotel has an assigned Benedict College Resident Hall Director who is responsive to each student's needs and available to assist with this transition.

Transportation:
The College shuttle service serves as the mode of transportation to and from campus from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. This enables students to make their classes on time and dine in Benedict College cafeteria.

If you have additional questions, please contact Community Life Department @ (803) 705-4381.
