Sponsored Programs (Grants and Contracts)

Mission

At Benedict College, activities pertaining to sponsored programs have shared responsibilities among the following Divisions:  the Division of Academic Affairs, the Division of Business and Finance and the Division of Institutional Advancement.  Institutional Advancement engages in activities that will help in obtaining the financial resources necessary to carry out the mission mandates of the College.  This unit also communicates with certain constituencies in an effort to tell the Benedict story; to keep alumni, churches, and friends abreast of College news and to cultivate supporters.

The mission of Sponsored Programs at Benedict College is to promote the generating of grants to support the College’s mission and programs to ensure effective administration of funded grants and contracts.  To realize this mission, the sponsored programs area:

  • works in collaboration with the academic departments and administrative units to seek increased funding for faculty and staff development;
  • identifies and circulates information on grants and contracts funding sources;
  • provides support and administrative oversight for the preparation and submission of proposals to secure funding to support the College’s mission and programs;
  • provides administrative oversight for the management of externally funded grants and contracts; and
  • maintains files and data on all externally funded grants and contracts at the College.
