Office of Communications and MarketingCampus AlertBenedict College to host annual King Day CelebrationJanuary 11, 2007 WHAT: Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration SPEAKER: Attorney Ernest N. Irby, II of Atlanta, GA WHEN: 11 a.m. January 16, 2007 Morehouse College and University of South Carolina Law School graduate, Attorney Ernest N. Irby, II will deliver the keynote address at Benedict's 2007 Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Mr. Irby will speak on the theme, "Leading the March to Justice." Driven by a passionate desire to bring about positive change in the black community, Mr. Irby founded the Irby Law Firm, LLC of Greenville, South Carolina in 1997 and he established the Irby Universal Empowerment Law Center, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia in 2006. The observance, co-sponsored by the Religious Services Department and the Leadership Development Program, provides a venue for speakers who are working towards civil rights and inspiring a new generation to do the same, said the Rev. Glenn Prince. Furthermore, it commemorates the legacy of a man whose dream continues to bring hope and healing to our nation. On this day, the College will pay tribute to the universal love, forgiveness, and non-violence that embodied the peaceful spirit of the slain civil rights leader, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event promises to be one of hope and inspiration. The award-winning Benedict College Gospel Choir will perform. In addition, the Gamma Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity will usher and provide a special tribute. During an invitation only luncheon following the program, a group of students will have an opportunity to further explore the theme with the speaker. For information, contact the Rev.
