Harold
A. White - - Allen Benedict Court 1948-58
Harold White was another of the first inductees in 1988. At the time
of his induction, White was Assistant Athletic Director at USC. He
was inspired to go in to coaching
and athletics by Charles Bolden, his high school coach at C.A. Johnson High
School. After graduating from C.A. Johnson and S.C. State College, he coached
at the high school and college levels. White was humbled to be one of the first
honorees
saying, “so many folks have gone on to do great things.”
Frank
E. McBride - - Allen Benedict Court 1943-58, Jaggers Terrace
1958-62
Frank McBride was one of the inaugural inductees into the Wall of Fame
in 1988. McBride was a state legislator when he was inducted. McBride served
on several
legislative committees and also on the Board of Visitors at the Citadel. He was
also a licensed real estate salesman with McBride Realty. He hoped that the Wall
of Fame would serve “as a model for not only children living in public
housing, but for all children as well.”
Violet
McKie - - Allen Benedict Court 1943-58, Jaggers Terrace
1958-61, Saxon Homes 1961-69
Violet McKie was also one of the first inductees in 1988. A cum laude graduate
of Benedict College, McKie was a senior secretary specialist for IBM at the
time of her induction. Of being one of the first inductees into the Wall of
Fame, McKie said, “I never thought anything like this would materialize.
I guess I have made accomplishments without realizing it.”
