AREA: The Educational Excellence Programs

The Minority Access To Higher Education Project

Funded through the Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure Assistance Project of the U. S. Department of Commerce, this project creates distance-learning links between Benedict College and community-based educational centers in three predominantly African  American communities. It is designed to encourage proficiency in mathematics, science, education, and computer literacy. Additionally, learning opportunities are enhanced through after-school tutorial programs, Saturday workshops, and parental/community workshops.

The Benedict College Summer Transportation Institute

This four-week program is funded in part by the U. S. Department of Transportation through the Summer Transportation National Resource Center at South Carolina State University.  High school students from across South Carolina are introduced to the transportation industry through classroom instruction, laboratories, field trips, lectures, presentation, and recreation.
