Incubator

Tenant Information

IDENTIFICATION CARD:

Incubator tenants will receive an Identification Card.  This card identifies each tenant as a member of the College and will allow each tenant use of the Business Development Center.

JANITORIAL SERVICES:

Janitorial service will be provided for the offices of all Incubator tenants five days a week.  If you see any item that needs to be brought to the attention of the cleaning crew, please let the Incubator staff know.

MAIL:

INCOMING MAIL

The incoming mail for the Incubator tenants will be delivered to the Clerical Center, Suite 107.  Mail arrives once a day during regular business hours.  The mail will be sorted and delivered to you once a day as soon as possible after it is received.

Couriers (Federal Express, UPS, etc.) will be directed to your office.  Please give them your suite number when placing the order for delivery to enhance the delivery process.  In your absence, unless otherwise instructed, Incubator staff members will sign for any courier packages or certified mail.  If for any reason you do not wish the staff to sign for your packages, please inform the Incubator staff in writing immediately.

OUTGOING MAIL

A basket is located at the Clerical Center for outgoing mail.  Regular mail pick up happens during regular business hours.

SHIPPING

The Incubator office does not provide shipping services.  You may wish to set up your own account with Federal Express through 1-800-463-3339.

As stated above, couriers (Fed Ex, UPS, etc.) with deliveries will be directed to your office.  In your absence, unless otherwise instructed, Incubator staff will sign for any courier packages or certified mail.  These items will be kept at the Incubator reception desk until you return.

If you are expecting a COD package and are not going to be in your office, you may leave a check or money with an Incubator staff member who will accept your package.

The Incubator staff is not responsible for the quality or condition of any items delivered in your absence.

BUSINESS LICENSE:

Anyone establishing a business in the Incubator must apply for a business license from the City of Columbia.

Please contact the City of Columbia Business License Office at 803-733-8309 for further information.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

Upon your move into the Incubator, you will be asked to complete a Benedict College Business Development Center Information form.  (A sample appears on the following pages.)  This basic information will be used by the Incubator for public relations purposes.

The Incubator will periodically issue press releases about the Incubator, the companies and related events.  You may be asked to provide information for such releases.  All information on your company will be given to you for your review before being submitted to the media.

REPORT CARDS:

Each year the Incubator compiles its "Report Card of Affiliated Companies".  The Incubator Director will use this report to give the Benedict College Business Development Center Advisory Committee an update on each company.

Please note that all information is kept confidential and is only reported to the Benedict College Business Development Center Advisory Committee.

Submitting the data requested for the report is a requirement of Incubator membership.

SECURITY:

The administrative staff will order keys for your suite.  You will be given two (2) keys for each door in your suite.  If you need additional keys please notify the administrative staff.  Additional keys can be ordered for you at the cost of $5.00 per key.

Upon moving out of your office, please be sure to return all keys back to the Incubator administrative assistant.

You will be responsible for making sure your suite is locked and secured at the end of your workday.  The outside entrance doors are open for the building hours, which are 8:30-5:00.  For after hours access, arrangements must be made with the Director.
