The Fine Arts Department was created in 1992 during a college restructuring period. It grew out of the merging of the existing departments of Art and Music with the areas of Dance and Theatre within the former Division of Humanities. Mr. Scott Blanks, MFA, was appointed the Department Chair.

The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Art, Art Education and Music Education (program re-instated Spring, 1997). In the Fall of 1997, the position of Music Coordinator was created to managethe re-instated Music Program. Dr. Cedric A. Adderley served in this position until June of 2000. In September of 2000, Dr. Linda L. Kershaw was appointed as Coordinator.
