Art In The Service Of The People

Over the years, The Ponder has been deeply committed to the task of providing the very best of African-American art to the Columbia community. Trends and concepts that have dominated the work of African-American artist from all walks of life have found there way into The Ponder. Ever mindful that we are here first to teach and educate, The Ponder has, when possible, invited the exhibiting artist to present their work to the public and in a more restricted format, to our students. We have quite often tried to document the words and philosophy of these nationallly and internationally acclaimed artists. There words like their work has always been profoundly moving and informative.

We offer you a sampling of their thoughts. Please follow the links below to see the work and hear the words of the creative geniuses that have graced our gallery.
