African American Women and HIV/AIDS Infection

 

A short video about African American women who are HIV/AIDs infected will be shown followed by a panel discussion of professionals who work with this population. A Legacy of Helping in the African American Community

 

This presentation is two-part.  The first part will be a student presentation on the helping strategies of African American social work pioneers.  Senior social work students will profile several African American social workers who made significant contributions to the African American community and to society. Coordinated by Ms Hammock.

 

The second part will be a presentation by Dr. Osgood on the rich historical tradition of African Americans, both professional and non-professional, responding to the needs of other African Americans. For more information about this program contact the social work office at (803) 705-4760.

Entrepreneurial Conference

Benedict College

Swinton Center

March 23, 2007  from 9:00am-3:00pm

 

Many social workers are already entrepreneurs and opportunities in this area are increasing.  This conference will explore various aspects of entrepreneurship including conducting feasibility studies, locating funding, operating the business, and evaluating results.  Presenters will be social workers who are entrepreneurs.
