Learning Resources Center
Introduction:

  1. The Learning Resources Center provides resources and services to its faculty, students, staff, and the community through a central facility located in the heart of the campus.
  2. The Learning Resources Center is open 81 hours per week and provides access to print, non-print, and electronic media. The audio-visual collection contains various types of media such as audiocassettes, videocassettes, audiodiscs, transparencies, slides, audiotapes, games, etc. The periodicals collection consists of current subscriptions, bound volumes, and microforms. The Library is very technologically advanced and provides access to many CD-ROM and online databases.
  3. The Learning Resources Center also houses the African-American Collection and Archives. The African-American Collection includes more than 6,000 books, exhibits, artifacts, and audio-visuals depicting the life and history of African-Americans in South Carolina and the nation. Archives contain the official and historical documents of the College.

Library Mission
Benedict College operates an academic library to provide broad support to a liberal arts curriculum. The library acquires and maintains adequate and appropriate print, non-print resources and electronic resources that support the colleges general core of studies and specialized content courses leading to bachelor degree programs. The library is committed to the provision of a comprehensive system of services designed to facilitate effective student study, research and scholastic achievement. Further, the library supports teaching and instruction and strengthens faculty access to relevant materials in their fields of specialization. The physical facility housing the library provides a climate that is conducive to study, research and enables the college to fulfill its obligations to students, faculty and staff relative to the overall institutional mission and purpose.
