The Cataloging Department is a part of Collection/Database Management Department (formerly Technical Services) that operates "behind the scenes."
The Cataloging Department is a data management operation that includes creating and maintaining the bibliographic records the local database and update holdings to a national database. This unit has responsibility for the integrity of the library's bibliographic files, which includes everything that, goes into the catalog. The main function is the maintenance of the online catalog and the classification of library resources.
All books are classified by discipline or subject according to the Library of Congress Classification scheme.
