Special Student Services

Special Assistance

The Office of Special Student Services provides some assistance for students who are in need of special accommodations in order to achieve academic success. The services are:

  • Provide a note-taker in the classroom
  • Provide Reader Services
  • A small technology lab is available in the Learning Resources Center (Library) that houses the following equipment and software:
    • Electronic Reader
    • Optalec Machine (Enlarged Print)
    • Computer and Printer
    • Via Voice (for typing reports, etc.)
  • Make available use of telephone services and fax machine for official business
  • Administer tests for faculty as requested
  • Make referrals to agencies providing funding
  • Work closely with faculty to have students' needs accommodated
  • Provide Peer tutoring
  • Provide tape recorders, tapes, and talking calculators
  • Make referrals for Internships and Summer Employment
  • Provide Service-Learning opportunities
  • Serve as a Work-Study Site
