On Saturday, January 14, 2017, members of the Columbia Tree and Appearance Commission completed the second phase of the tree planting along Read Street Extension in front of the Benedict College's Charlie W. Johnson football stadium.  Assisted by members of Benedict's facilities staff, they planted five tulip polar trees and three swamp white oaks on the school's campus.  These trees were privately funded by members of CTAC, and is a continuation of the line of nine trees planted last year that match the trees across the street planted by the City of Columbia.

Columbia, SC --- December 7, 2015 --- Dr. George T. French, the President of Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama, will deliver the winter commencement address during the Benedict College Commencement Convocation. The ceremony is set for 9 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016, in the Benjamin E. Mays Human Resources Center Arena on the main campus.

Columbia, SC -- November 1, 2016 -- The Benedict-Allen Community Development Corporation recently received more than $1 million from the U.S. Department of Labor to help fund its YouthBuild Program. The grant will provide construction training, adult education services, and leadership development training to 60 area youth ages 16-24.

The agency has received three previous grant awards totaling over $1.6 million during the past 15 years and they have provided training and education services to over 200 area youth.
