Physics and Engineering

The Transportation Engineering and Logistics Studies (TELS) program was designed in collaboration with our governmental and corporate transportation partners. Students matriculating in this program will be prepared to address the demands of the 21st Century within the transportation industry. Students will receive individualized professional development and industry exposure through the Office of Transportation Programs. The program offers courses in transportation planning, traffic engineering, highway design, urban economics, transportation system environmental analysis, and etc.

Program Description:

Where does your drinking water come from?  Where does it go when you flush it away?  How does it end up clean enough to drink and/or dump into our  receiving water bodies?  How do we reduce the impact of smokestack and vehicle emissions on air quality? How do we make the oceans clean and safe after an oil spill? How do we deal with ever increasing amounts of solid and hazardous waste?

The Physics/Engineering program is a dual degree program for students who are interested in engineering other than electrical and computer engineering. The cooperating schools in this program include Georgia Institute of Technology, Clemson University, South Carolina State University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and North Carolina A & T University. Under this program students attend Benedict College for approximately three years and the cooperating school for approximately two years.

The Electrical Engineering program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills in electrical engineering with concentration in communications and microelectronics and prepares them for careers in the public and private sectors or to pursue graduate study. The program offers courses in electrical circuits, electronics, communications, control systems, etc.

The Computer Engineering program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills in computer engineering and prepares them for careers in the public and private sectors or to pursue graduate study. The program offers courses in electronics, digital logic, software engineering, etc.

The Physics program is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the principles of physics and their applications and prepares them for careers in the public and private sectors or to pursue graduate study in physics or other related fields. The program offers courses in mechanics, thermal physics, modern physics, electricity and magnetism, electronics, etc.
