Bridge Program

Midlands Technical College and Benedict College will designate academic and/or enrollment services representatives responsible for coordinating the Midlands Technical College – Benedict College Bridge Program and post this information on the college web sites.  In addition, links will be established between the web sites of the two colleges to facilitate transfer information for Bridge Program students, advisors and counselors.

Mentors--Students will be offered the opportunity to be matched with a transfer student mentor the semester before entering Benedict College to answer questions as the student prepares for his/her transition to Benedict.    That same mentor will continue to work with the student throughout his/her first year at Benedict College.

All admission policies and procedures, including the admission standards of individual academic departments of Benedict College and Midlands Technical College will be in force.

Initial admission to the first year is determined by Midlands Technical College while subsequent transfer eligibility is determined by transfer admissions policy at Benedict College.

Each institution will provide updates of any admission policy changes as soon as practical.  Any official policy change is subject to change without notice.

The program is intended for first-time college attendees who are recent high school graduates, but is also open to adult learners who begin their college experience at Midlands Technical College.  Participation in the program is determined by the student's express desire to eventually matriculate at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina.

Students will be identified in the following ways:

  • Financial aid, scholarships Information
  • Introduction to academic programs,
  • Tips for academic success
  • Transfer credit guideline sheet
  • Listing of contact information,
  • Career exploration
  • Campus visitation
  • One-on one academic/pre-professional counseling
  • And more!

This program utilizes existing policies, programs and services in a defined and targeted way for students beginning at Midlands Technical College who wish to matriculate at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina.  Policies governing the admission, enrollment and transfer of students are the sole purview of each institution.
