Columbia, SC -- May 07, 2012 -- Fourteen Benedict College School of Honors students were inducted into the South Carolina Epsilon chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society on March 28, 2012. The ceremony was conducted in the Ponder Fine Arts/Humanities Center’s Little Theatre. It was the first of its kind in over eight years.
The new members who took part in the induction ceremony were Oluwatoyin Alaka, Senior, Accounting major, Kendric Boykin, Senior, Mass Communications (Broadcast) major, Crystal Brown, Senior, Business Administration (Management) major, Quatillia Byrd, Senior, Accounting major, Bianca Frazier, Senior Political Science major, Dynika Giles, Senior, Accounting major, Sharnese Goodwin, Junior, Biology major, Devin Jeter, Senior, Mass Communications (Broadcast) major, Nykia Johnson, Senior, Psychology major, Mary Purnell, Senior, Accounting major, Jazmine Ransom, Senior, Economics (Finance) major, Ashuntai Shuler, Senior, Economics (Finance), Bridget Starling, Senior, Psychology major, and Lashaunda Wyatt, Senior, Accounting major.
As part of the ceremony, the new inductees received their official recognition pin, certificate of membership and the Alpha Chi medallion. Officiating at the induction were the chapter sponsors, Dr. Warren D. Robinson, Sponsor, Ms. Ruby Blair, First Assistant Sponsor, and Ms. Laura Postell, Second Assistant Sponsor.
Alpha Chi is a national college honor society that admits students from all academic disciplines. Membership is limited to the top 10 percent of an institution's juniors, seniors, and graduate students. The objectives of Alpha Chi are to promote and to recognize superior scholarship and those elements of character which make scholarship effective for service. The society, founded in 1922, has more than 300 chapters and over 300,000 members worldwide.
