Below is a list of education related federal, state, and college financial assistance programs. Please note the requirements and governing body for each program. The programs listed below are not the only sources of funding for college. Students should make sure to visit the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of Institutional Scholarships for a full list of funding opportunities.
FEDERAL STUDENT AID - TEACH GRANT PROGRAM
Through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.
SOUTH CAROLINA TEACHERS LOAN PROGRAM
The SC Teachers Loan and Career Changers Loan may be forgiven if the applicant teaches in a South Carolina public school in a critical subject or critical geographic area. To begin the process, simply download and complete the SC Teachers/Career Changers Loan application. The priority filing deadline is June 1.
