Welcome to the Benedict College Child Development Center!
We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We are also rated AA by the South Carolina ABC Childcare program.
The Child Development Center serves families with children
ages six (6) weeks to six (6) years (First Grade).
The Mission of Benedict College Child Development Center is to cultivate in each child a lifelong enjoyment for learning and respect for others by providing a nurturing, stimulating, and interactive environment.
Early childhood is a unique and valuable stage in the life cycle. Our paramount responsibility is to provide a warm, safe, healthy, nurturing and responsive setting for the children we serve. It is during early childhood that children develop the tools and skills and appreciation for learning that will shape the rest of their lives.
Our staff guides each child's emerging capabilities by creating an active, fun-filled and hands-on learning environment. Children learn by doing. Learning by doing helps each child to develop in all areas: social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. The center uses an eclectic approach to early learning which supports the idea that early childhood is a distinct period with its own characteristics. Our curriculum incorporates components of the Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Pre-school within a theme-based curricular framework. The center incorporates principles of its accrediting agency, National Association for the Education of the Young Child (NAEYC) as well as license regulations of the South Carolina Department of Social Services.
