Benedict College prides itself in being one of the few minority-serving institutions in the nation that was founded by a woman – the visionary, Mrs. Bathsheba A. Benedict. The appointment of Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis as the 14th and first female president of Benedict College marks another momentous milestone in the history of the College - one that bridges a 147-year gap, connecting our founding to our future.

The In Her Footsteps Luncheon will honor the legacy of Benedict’s founder, recognize the countless contributions that generations of women have made to the vitality of the College and celebrate the new era of excellence that has been set in motion under the visionary leadership of President Artis.

In recognition of the many important roles that women play within our global society, Benedict College will designate 10% of each ticket and sponsorship received to help launch the first collegiate chapter of Women in Philanthropy (WIP) which will be hosted on Benedict’s campus.  Women in Philanthropy is an affinity group of United Way of the Midlands dedicated to revolutionizing the way women give by transforming charitable contributions into philanthropic investments in the community. The remaining proceeds will support the establishment of The BEST of BC Scholarship Fund, a merit-based scholarship fund for students at Benedict College.
