This scintillating assembly, composed of outstanding women on the Benedict College campus and in our communities, tell their stories and share their bonds of professionalism, intellectualism and sisterhood.  This same assembly will also “recognize the phenomenal women in our lives to include our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, wives, who lead extraordinary lives under extraordinary conditions.

The Office of International Programs will present keynote speaker Ms. Paola Andrea Mosquera, Diplomat and Second Secretary of International Relations with the Embassy of Colombia in Trinidad and Tobago and Benedict College alumnus to share her unique experiences as a young, female diplomat within a traditionally male-dominated profession.  Secretary Mosquera will also highlight challenging issues which she confronts within her current assignment such as human trafficking in Trinidad.  This interactive presentation will be followed by a brief question and answer session, and International Programs Director, Dr. Norma L. Jackson, will conclude the program with special presentations and closing remarks.

The Harambee Festival opens under the lights with a talent showcase of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community participants. The Harambee Festival is one of the largest College-sponsored festivals in the nation.  It is an annual event for the entire family that has plenty of food, music, fun, art, and those hard-to-find merchandise items in the Shopping Village.   There is a separate Food Village.
