On October 27th, 2017, the Benedict College Center for Cybersecurity held its Second Annual Cybersecurity Symposium themed Strengthening the Pipeline Thru Cybersecurity Education and Workforce Development in the Henry Ponder Fine Arts Building Little Theater. The event was well attended and presented various workshops and panels such as cyber-bullying, ethical hacking, importance of cybersecurity, girls who code, and the educational and career paths for students. The Girls Who Code panel consisted of students from Midlands Technical College, Claflin University, South Carolina State University, and Benedict College. While the industry panel consisted of cybersecurity experts from the University of South Carolina, Deloitte Consulting, Charleston Southern University, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Overall, the symposium provided attendees with a wealth of information and insights about emerging cybersecurity issues and challenges toward a safer cyberspace.
