PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The Benedict College men's tennis team won the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship for the third year in a row with a 5-2 victory over Morehouse College in the championship match on Wednesday at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.

Benedict took a 2-1 lead after doubles action as Armando Flores and Juan Hernandez took an 8-2 victory over Rasheed Slade and Terrell Green at No. 2 doubles and Malek Selmen and Taj Ballantyne beat Ziha Meghoo-Peddie and Zihkai Megoo-Peddie 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Benedict's Quentin Eloise defeated Justin Samples, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while Armando Flores beat Terrell Green, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Juan Hernandez downed Ziha Meghoo-Peddie, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles for the final Benedict victory.

The Tigers improve to 17-8 overall and earned the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.

Nathaniel Pinkney, already named the SIAC Player of the Year, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player and coach Gary Taylor was named Coach of the Tournament. Eloise and Ballantyne join Pinkney on the All-Tournament singles squad, while the doubles teams of Pinkney and Eloise and Hernandez and Armando Flores earned All-Tournament doubles honors.
