POSITION: Head Football Coach

DEPARTMENT: Athletic Department
WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible, this is a full-time 12 month appointment, nights, weekends, holidays and overnight travel required.

DIRECT REPORT: Director of Athletics

FUNCTION: Coordinate a quality program that will be competitive on the field and in the classroom within the policy framework of the institution and NCAA.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  1. Successful head coaching experience required
  2. Successful collegiate head coaching experience preferred
  3. A bachelor’s degree is required
  4. Master’s degree is preferred
  5. Must have working knowledge of NCAA and SIAC regulations

DUTIES: The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but not limited to:

  1. Direct all aspects of the Football program
  2. Budget management
  3. Participates in fundraising activities, public relations activities and special projects
  4. Recruitment and development of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes while maintaining a recruiting database.
  5. Monitoring a student-athlete academic development and well-being
  6. Design and implementation of effective practice and game plans, scouting reports and player development, both in strength and individual skill development
  7. Supervision off-season programs
  8. Manage and coaching staff, student workers and volunteers
  9. Work in conjunction with the Athletics Director to develop game schedules, preparing annual budget, plan major purchases and coordinate travel arrangements
  10. Oversea organizing and supervision of camps and clinics
  11. Complete and submit all necessary institution, conference and NCAA required
  12. Working closely with the College admission and financial aid office and the NCAA , Compliance Coordinator and Housing Director
  13. Other duties assigned by Athletic Director

POSITION: Assistant Baseball Coach / Part Time

DEPARTMENT: Athletics Department
WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible, nights, weekends, holidays and overnight travel
SALARY: Commensurate with experience

DIRECT REPORT: Coach Selwyn Young

FUNCTION: Assist the Head Coach in baseball practice and games.

QUALIFICIATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  1. Prior College, High school or Recreation coaching, showcases, scouting and travel team experience preferred.
  2. The ability to work with college student athlete

DUTIES: The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but not limited to:

  1. Part Time contract.
  2. Assist with practice; help supervise weight room and conditioning.
  3. Keep weekly records on student participation and other necessary data.
  4. Attendance at Spring home games are required.
  5. Spring Weekday games are excluded.
  6. Assist during the weekend scrimmages with field maintenance
  7. Assist with game day management.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director

FUNCTION: Oversees Club Sport Program and Fitness Center.

QUALIFICIATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. The Position requires the ability to work with students and handle crowd /player control problems as they arise
  3. Supervise Fitness Center/ Charlie W. Johnson Stadium

DUTIES: The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but not limited to:

  1. 10 month contract
  2. Keep weekly records on student participation and other necessary data
  3. Coordinate and supervised college club sports program.
  4. Maintain condition of equipment and, repair when needed.
  5. Assist in establishing rules/policies governing club sports activities.
  6. Maintenance and upkeep of Fitness Center and Charlie W. Johnson Stadium
  7. Other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.

POSITION: Women’s Assistant Track & Field Coach

DEPARTMENT: Athletic Department
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Some nights, weekends, and holidays required. This position also involves some required travel with necessary team sports.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head Coach, Athletic Director

FUNCTION: To cooperate with the head coach in the assigned interscholastic sport in maintaining a quality program within the policy framework of the institution.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  1. Must have a Bachelor Degree.
  2. Must have USATF Level 1 certification.
  3. Must have at least 2 years of experience in their particular Field of interest.

DUTIES:

  1. Cooperation by the assistant coaches of each sport with the head coach and athletic director, in performing the following duties related to the institutions Track & Field program.
  2. Assure that Student-athletes under his/her jurisdiction understand the team rules and regulations.
  3. Support the head coach in conducting the athletic program of that particular sport and total athletic program of the Institution.
  4. Attend all practices beginning the first day to the end of the season along with being available for all staff meetings and scouting/ recruiting assignments.
  5. Assume the responsibility for maintenance of facilities equipment and personnel.
  6. Report all injuries, misconduct, or other unusual situations to the head coach and athletic director.
  7. Assist the head coach in checking in and inventorying all equipment at the end of the season.
  8. Assume all duties as assigned by the head coach.
  9. Complete and return a Coach's Annual Report form to the athletic director within two weeks after the last competition.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
  11. Recruitment

The following lists of topics are designed to assist the coach in preparing for the competitive season.

  • Coaching is teaching - depth teaching of the advanced skills and strategies of the sport Track & Field & Cross Country
  • Coaching requires expert knowledge of the sport.
  • The coach must be willing to be a specialist.
  • The coach must be willing to devote a large amount of time to a relatively small group of students.
  • A coach must be sensitive, firm, insightful, adaptable, and flexible. A coach must be consistent.

PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE

Every coach needs to refresh and review before beginning the season. This may consist of concentrated readings, attending workshops or clinics, or visiting other coaches and teams to observe and ask questions. Many theories of play and techniques of skills and strategy change over time. It is the coach's responsibility to be aware of NCAA Rules and regulations.
