Benedict College Celebrates American Education Week
November 16-21, 2014

Columbia, SC -- November 14, 2014 -- Benedict College will join school districts nationwide in celebrating American Education Week (AEW) November 16-21, 2014, a celebration of public education and the people who make a difference in ensuring every child receives a quality education. American Education Week was created at the National Education Association (NEA) Representative Assembly in 1921. In its resolution, the NEA called for: "An educational week observed in all communities annually for the purpose of informing the public of the accomplishments and needs of the public schools and to secure the cooperation and support of the public in meeting those needs."

This year's theme, "Raise your hand for student success, our communities and cornerstones" reflects a call to provide students with quality public schools so that they can grow, prosper, and achieve in the 21st century.
