Columbia, SC --- June 12, 2013 --- Ms. Sheryl P. Underwood was recently appointed to the Benedict College Board of Trustees during its Spring meeting. She will serve on the board for a three-year term.
Ms. Underwood is owner and CEO of Pack Rat Productions, Inc. She is one of the most articulate, well-informed women of our time. She is a much sought after entertainer who has been described as one of the world's brightest contemporary humorists. The well-known movie and television personality is a co-host on the popular CBS Television Show, The Talk. Ms. Underwood joined the television show The Talk on CBS for the start of season two. She sits alongside hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Aisha Tyler. The Talk, which averages 2.21 million viewers per day, has a strong profile in the daytime viewing line-up on CBS and, with Underwood at the table, the show has been nominated for five Emmy awards this year. She has also been named one of the 10 most influential talk show hosts on Twitter!
Named one of today's hardest working comediennes, Ms. Underwood has appeared on multiple episodes of the Emmy winning hit CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless, and has starred in such films as Bullworth, I Got the Hook Up, and Beauty Shop. In addition, she was the host of Black Entertainment Television's (BET's) "Comic View" and "Holla." She created and produced the talk show, which was loosely based on Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect. She is a weekly contributor on the Steve Harvey Morning Show, also serving as "guest host," and appears on The Steve Harvey Project, the television version of the show airing on BET Centric. Also, Ms. Underwood hosts The Sheryl Underwood Show on Jamie Foxx's The Foxxhole, airing on Sirius 106/XM 149, where she provides a mix of political satire, comedy, and music.
Ms. Underwood is the host of the fifth season of Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand-Up, and is a former contributor to the Tom Joyner Morning Show. She has appeared on the Dr. Phil Show, FOX television network morning show Fox and Friends, the Joy Behar Show, WPIX in New York City, and The View, created by ABC News Correspondent Barbara Walters.
A dynamic business-woman, striving not only to change the world through her sorority, Zeta Phi Beta, Ms. Underwood takes her role as Owner and CEO of Pack Rat Productions, Inc. seriously. She is committed to sharing the wisdom and insight she has gathered as the Chief Executive of her entertainment company with generations to come and other women business owners.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago and master's degrees in Media Management and Mass Communication from Governors State University, University Park, Illinois. Ms. Underwood is a lifetime member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority, and served as president of the organization's Omicron Rho Zeta chapter, as the National Chair of Honorary Members, and as the National Executive Board Chair. She was elected as the 23rd International Grand Basileus (President) during Zeta Phi Beta's biennial business meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2008. In addition to the Zeta Phi Beta sorority, Ms. Underwood is a member of the National Council of Negro Women and the NAACP.
