 Jimmy DuRante was born in Hartsville, SC. He currently resides in Mauldin, SC. He is 1973 graduate with a BA Degree in Economics. He is married to his College Sweetheart Betty Davis DuRante ‘73. To this union three children were born.
He is currently employed With Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company as a Master Claims Representative. He has worked as a Producer Agent for Kendall & Associates. Greenville South Carolina And as a Senior Claims Adjuster /Multi- Lines for U. S. F & G. Insurance Co.
Civic & Community activities include: He was served as President of Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; He is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He has served as a Cub Master for the Blue Ridge Council of Boy Scouts of America. He is a South Carolina Notary Public. He is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 400 South Hudson Street, Greenville, South Carolina; were he has served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry. He works with the Youth Ministry, Usher Board, Sunday school Teacher, Membership Committee, Pastor Aid, Scholarship Committee, Evangelism Ministry, Contemporary Choir and Save Our Sons Community Choir.
Awards and Honors: Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter Merit Award, December 10,1989; Gamma Gamma Lambda Extravaganza Award, received December 9, 1990; Gamma Gamma Lambda President’s Award December 8,1991; United Negro College Fund Meritorious Service Award; May 1991; Alpha Man of Year, 1992 Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter.
Alumni Association Involvement: He has served as President of the Greenville Benedict Alumni Club. He is now currently Treasurer of the Greenville Benedict Club. He is a Life Member of the Benedict College National Alumni Association. Co-Chairman BCNAA Scholarship Committee, Chairman Budget Committee, Member, Membership Committee and Budget and Finance Committee, and Area Director for Upstate BCNAA.
