Office of Sponsored Programs and Research

The Sponsored Programs and Research (SP&R) focus is on the development of new and expansion of existing programs sponsored primarily with external resources.  The goal is to significantly increase funds and other value added investments in the College’s infrastructure, research, academic, student and other initiatives.  Tasks undertaken by the respective office may include working with one or more of the College’s divisions or units with the objective of obtaining resources for strategic directives.  Emphasis is placed on collaborative and consortium efforts with other institutions of higher education, government agencies, corporations, philanthropic and other organizations that increase the potential of yielding significant levels of support for activities.

The Office of Sponsored Programs has three interdependent foci.  The following areas have been identified as initial target areas:

  • Consortium development and/or other partnerships that facilitate participation and leadership role(s) in greater than $5 million programs;
  • Mentor-protégé relationships with major contractors doing over $10 million in federal agency business to promote existing and build new capability leading to significant direct and/or subcontracts with the government; and
  • Congressional and other specific appropriations for the support of major institute establishment(s) at the College.
