Institutional Advancement is an integral part of the College which assists in meeting the College’s mission and goals. The unit specifically engages in activities that will help in obtaining the financial resources necessary to carry out the mission mandates. The unit also communicates with certain constituencies in an effort to tell the Benedict story, to keep alumni, churches, and friends abreast of College news and to cultivate supporters.
As the total program for raising funds for the College, Institutional Advancement has the following components: Alumni Affairs; Church Relations; Corporate and Foundations Relations; Public Relations; Governmental Affairs/Grants and Contracts; and Title III.
The College conducts two major fundraising campaigns on an annual basis: The Annual Giving Campaign and the UNCF Campaign.
Periodically, other fundraising events are held, including a multiple-year Capital Campaign. The College always looks for major donors, actively conducts prospects research, and provides the opportunity for planned or deferred giving; these are rolling campaigns
