Office of Community DevelopmentMessage from the President Benedict College is not an island of academia removed from the community-be it the local, state, or national community. To the contrary, Benedict College works to be an integral part of the many communities that we and our neighbors call home. The College is experiencing unprecedented growth. It is, in fact, the fastest-growing historically black college in the nation. At the same time, too many of our neighbors languish in poverty, are poorly educated, suffer from preventable diseases, die prematurely, are unemployed, and have little or no voice in situations that affect their lives. As good neighbors, we must help address these conditions with the same tools responsible for our prosperity. Together we can formulate strategies, identify resources, and create positive change. The establishment of the Division of Community Development is Benedict's commitment to helping our neighbors realize their potential as individuals, families, and communities. Through the Division of Community Development, we make our physical facilities, and faculty, staff, and external experts' impressive array of talent, skill, and knowledge available to our neighbors. We are certainly aware that we can not accomplish any of these goals alone. We need-and have been blessed to have-the active involvement of individuals, businesses, communities, governments, and other organizations to accomplish these goals. We thank all of you and ask that you continue to support us.
