The Benedict College Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Team ranked as the number 5 team out of the 64 competing historically Black colleges and universities at the 2006 Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) National Championship Tournament held in Orlando, Florida on March 30 through April 2, 2006. Benedict College emerged undefeated with 7 wins and 0 losses taking 1st place in the Round Robin Games representing the James Beckworth Division and earning a $5,000 grant for the institution. Team Captain, Houston Todd, a senior art teaching major from Birmingham, Alabama was recognized as a 2006 Honda Campus All-Star. Todd's All-Star performance, scoring a total of 485 points, earned an additional $1000 grant for the institution.
Benedict College lost in the first round of the playoff games to Mississippi Valley State University 205 to 195.
Emerging as a "Sweet Sixteen" contender, the Benedict College HCASC Team will be featured in USA Today on April 17, 2006.
